
On December 14th this BRAND NEW technology opened at the Cancer Centre for the benefit of cancer patients from every community in Newfoundland and Labrador! This is the first of two $1 million machines purchased by the Dr. H. BLiss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation - the second to arrive by May of 2010.

Newfoundland Power Employees raised an astonishing $7257 and counting to furnish the Atrium (Family Room Space) at our Cancer Centre in Grand Falls Windsor. What an amazing day for Cancer Care in Central Newfoundland!


Synchro Newfoundland and Labrador holding support Cancer Care Right Here at Home!
St. John’s, NL: On Saturday, December 7, 2009, Synchro Newfoundland and Labrador held their 2nd Annual Burning Bright for Cancer Care Relay at the CBS Pool. With approximately 100 swimmers ranging in age from 6-19, over $4000 was raised! Funds raised from the event have been donated to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation and Avalon Dragon Boating.


During her Newfoundland and Labrador Tour this Fall, Tara Oram visited the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre in St. John's to pay a visit to some of the cancer patients that were on hand that day and to learn more about cancer care right here at home.

On September 17th, Tammy Earle and Tim Power proudly announce the proceeds from the 4th Annual Jennifer Benson Memorial Golf Tournament. This event marked the completion of Tim’s $25,000 endowment to the Patient and Family Support Fund, and his sister Tammy-who is now a valued board member of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, was present to mark this significant accomplishment.
The Patient and Family Support Fund provides financial assistance to patients and their families who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of their cancer diagnosis. Interested in learning more about making an endowment to the Fund? Email Lynette Hillier.


The employees of Newfoundland Power in the Corner Brook region and the Kinsmen Club of Corner Brook generously invested $13,000in 6 brand new Chemotherapy Recliners for the Cancer Centre Western Region. These new Chemotherapy Recliners are made by Stryker Medical but designed by Lazy Boy to provide cancer patients with a level of support and comfort. Cancer Patients can sometimes be in a Chemotherapy Recliner for several hours while undergoing treatment.
